Introduction
---------------
This is a special compilation of Heavenly Music Midi Software
demos. All files have been EXTREMELY Edited for these purposes. If
you like what you hear, then the FULL versions are available
direct from Heavenly Music Midi Software.

You now have access to 'THE SOURCE' of THE BEST sequence
data available ANYWHERE!

Some titles will be totally unfamiliar to you - don't worry - it's
not your fault that the media give you the illusion that what you
hear in the charts is all that there is - We think they need re-
educating, don't you? Or better still, let's flush out the A&R
(Blood sucking Artistic Ransackers to you and me) who have
the gall to put themselves in the position of deciding what's
good enough for you to hear. Anyway, more on that later.

Heavenly Music pride themselves in the QUALITY of programming
which is unmatched by all but the absolute best in the world. As
of this writing, all HMMS sequences are produced in house and not
imported from the U.S. or 'other sources' (although, we do
have a resident American programmer) which is why you will
find the quality of our files to be consistent from song to song.

All HM Midi Files have the file extension 'MID' and should
be loaded into your sequencer under the file menu. This
is almost the same as loading your sequencers song information
but the file load operation must have the option to load or
"IMPORT" Midi, MID or Midifile.

It is assumed that you are reasonably conversant with your
particular sequencer/computer package.

* There may be more than one percussion track and there may be
more than one percussion instrument per track.

Files are in midi format 1

Controllers used are as follows:

007 = Volume
010 = Panning
091 = Reverb send level (GM/GS only)
093 = Chorus send level (GM/GS only)
011 = Expression - used for crescendos and decresendos*.

Note* - If your instrument does not respond to this controller
then you must use your sequencers edit facilities to convert
controller 011 to controller 007 (volume).

101 = MSB
100 = LSB
006 = Data Entry - These three are used to set the pitch bend
range of a part or instrument.

Program change = sets the part or instrument to a particular
'voice' or 'timbre'.

There may be other controllers used which might be specific to the
Roland SC55/155 or DS330 such as 000 and 032 which may at times be
used for bank select messages. If you experience any difficulties
with older non-GM/GS equipment, delete these events.

DRUMS
-----
(NOTE - If you use CUBASE and need to re-map midi note numbers for
non - GM/GS drums, a DRM file is included on this disk for your
convenience. Just change the O (OUT) notes to match your drum maps
I (IN) notes.

MISC.
-----
At the beginning of each song file, there will be a 1 bar count-
in (unless the song has an instrumental or drum lead-in, in which
case the count-in will usually be spread over 2 bars).

During this count-in, your sequencer will be transmitting certain
messages as described earlier to the whole of your midi setup so
that (hopefully) by the time the song begins, everything should
be zeroed, i.e. Stuck Pitch Bends, Hanging Notes, Stuck Sustain
Pedals and so forth. If you are not using a GM/GS instrument to
play back the files, you may have to spend just a little time
'tweeking up' program changes, volume settings, pan positions
etc. but with a little patience, your work will be rewarded.

If you need to remap the drum/percussion tracks to another
standard? try using either your sequencers drum-edit page if it
has one or LOGICAL EDIT as employed in Steinberg's PRO
24 and CUBASE/CUBEAT. It would be better if you can
configure your module(s) to GM/GS and save all your setups via
SysEx rather than having to edit each and every song file.

MIDIFILES are saved and loaded as one LONG pattern or part per
track so if you have any 'DESKTOP ACCs' or other memory-gobbling
portions of your sequencer, like score edit or similar, disable
these facilities if your sequencer allows this. If your
sequencer does not display the 'TRACK NAMES' on an imported
midifile, then please refer to the songfile's DOC for any and
all information pertaining to the song. If the song does not have
a song INF file then please phone for details.

It may not all sound GREAT first go (if you are not playing
these files back on GM/GS equipment but DO PERSEVERE, we
guarantee that your effort will be rewarded.

And Finally........................ Press 'PLAY' on your
sequencer and LISTEN.

If you are using 'CREATOR/NOTATOR', check the track information
against the 'DOC' file and make sure that at least the 'MIDI
CHANNELS' match.

FINAL WORDS
-----------
Once you have ordered your first batch of midi files, why not try
something completely different and order something you've never
heard before...you'd be shocked to hear what you've been deprived
of by the idiots running the record business. They must think that
we all have our ears up our thingys! Unfortunately, as long as
they hold the monopoly on what is signed, released, seen and
heard, you will continue to be force fed this trash until
you're brainwashed into believing that it's really not bad.
NONSENSE... Its GARBAGE. Why not try our hybrid Dizzy
Gilespi/Chaka Khan version of 'Nights In Tunisia' or Weather
Reports classic 'Birdland' (written 1956 and sounds almost
futuristic!) or Eddie Palmieri Salsa hit 'Puerto Rico'.
Heavenly Music will continue to program some of the very best
music in the world and hopefully, you'll be fortunate enough to
experience music like you've never heard before.

A message from the programmer.

One final but very important note - the piracy of midi file data
has grown out of all proportion to the point where companies are
sprouting up all over the place offering 'Essential' this and
'Real' that (no names) and thousands of titles - strange as it's
taken nearly 3 years to program over 800 songs and six volumes
of drum pattern disks. Can the few brainless customers who have
passed on my work to everybody and their mothers begin to imagine
the chronic RSI that results from sitting at a computer and
keyboard for 12 to 16 hours a day for 3 solid years? Fortunately,
the large majority of our customers are good people and they would
be more than dissapointed to know that if this piracy continues, I
am very reluctant to program one more song file just so it can
wind up on a BBS on the other side of the planet a week after it
was sold!

A reward (up to 300 of HM Software) is on offer to anyone
providing information (in strictest confidence) where piracy
of HM software is proven. Also keep your ears open when
listening to Kareoke tapes or videos as a few individuals are
actually stupid enough to think they can but a midi file for a
few pounds and then go on to make hundreds of pounds selling
recordings - this also is ILLEGAL. We'll do the rest - and
of course, we will continue to deliver the best sequence data
you can buy.

Thanks,

Joe Ortiz

About the programmers.

We thought it might be a good idea to blow a few trumpets and let
you know who's behind Heavenly Music.

Joe and Pauly Ortiz are Heavenly Music (Alias 'Heaven on
Earth'). A partnership that has dedicated a lifetime (or two!)
to MUSIC. They are writers, arrangers, producers, engineers,
programmers, instrumentalists and vocalists (to name but a few of
their nicer points). Shame they're not knowledgeable corporate
business lawyers (if we all knew legal self defence, that would
certainly weed out the sharks and the cowboys.

This disk is only one of the ways in which we constantly
endeavor to give 1000% when we are inspired to do
anything musical (and thankfully, that's 98% of the time).

Heavenly Music was formed in England in 1988 as a front end to
deal with Virgin Music and Atlantic Records in the U.S. as that is
who we were writing and making records for at the time under the
name of 'Heaven On Earth'. The result of this was a major U.S.
Album and Single release. The single 'On An Angels Wing' (a soul
record) to this day is still being played as well as other cuts
off the LP all over the world. Our experience in writing,
performing, arranging, producing AND engineering numerous L.P.s
over a span of 20 years EACH more than qualifies us to be able to
deliver midi music files that sound REAL!

Joe Ortiz, one of the key programmers is X studio and touring
lead guitarist for INNER CIRCLE - yes, the chart group. That
same musician has sessioned in New York & London with the likes
of Ruben Blades, Dave Valentin (GRP Jazz Artiste), Dave Grusin
(On Golden Pond), Steve Gadd (of Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin,
etc.) Steve Ferrone (of Average White Band, Chaka Khan), Anthony
Jackson ( of Chic Corea, Al DiMeiola, etc), Pino Paladino (of
Paul Young, Gary Newman, Joan Armatrading) - all world class
session people - need we say more? Yes - The other half of
the team, Pauly Ortiz is the voice, keyboardist and co-writer
of the above mentioned LP and single. Her first LP release
(Ladies Fire) saw the issue of two singles 'One Of The Chozen
Few' and 'Jimmys Hi Fi' on CBS Records Europe. These singles
became instant 'Turntable Hits' with the likes of Dave Lee
Travis on Radio 1 and also continue to be played worldwide.
With a voice reminiscent of Aretha and the ability to sequence
her own backing tracks, it's no wonder she can tell when a
sequence is or is'nt popping! If you watch a bit of television
then you've already heard the theme from the antiques program
'Heirlooms' or the wildlife theme for 'Animals In Action' or all
of the music for the ITV game show 'Jumble'.

Our original compositions can also be heard demonstrating some of
